4th July 2008: "Forget what assassins have done..."

One of my favorite songs as of late has been "Allende's Song" by Don Lange. I don't know if Lange himself ever recorded it -- the version we have at home is from Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger's Cold Snap. In the video below, you can see it performed by a gentleman named Tony Gibbons earlier this year. "It's a long way from the heartland to Santiago Bay, where the good doctor lies with blood in his eyes and the bullets read U.S. of A." Happy birthday, America.
